Our Graphics Team - Orion 2010
We finally managed to pick the most creative guys of the batch for the graphics. It took long cause we had to scour all the bars, pubs and joints of Pune and around to actually get to them in the first place.
A very talented bunch of guys they don't work for money - but for Maggi, sausages, coffee and beer.

Hey guys we finally managed to get time out from strangling each other to death and get the website going. After almost hacking each other due to differences in favourite fonts, styles, names and backgrounds we finally (sort of) have come to finalise what we think would be the best website for Orion 2010.
This will be just a teaser and the real one will be online in just a few days.
I hope most of the team of Orion 2010 survives the coming ordeal!

Carbon Caliphs - Carbon Credits Game
With the Kyoto Protocol set to expire in 2012, the world is looking with anxiousness towards the next cap to be set on carbon emissions. In the past two decades, emissions of green houses gasses, has gone from just being a peripheral concern of civil society and a few scientists, to global movements demanding that the world’s leaders control the insatiable hunger of fossil fuels and put a leash on rampant industrialization eating into earth’s forests. Today however, we see that not only has global warming claimed a prime position in the political consciousness of countries but has become a new avenue of growth and revenue for capitalists, industrialists and budget crunched governments.
While the Kyoto Protocol was a start, the world is now bracing for tougher norms on carbon emissions and hence higher carbon credit prices. The world has seen regular upheavals in this nascent market and various policy changes towards global warming, due to various extraneous changes. Carbon Caliphs has been conceptualized keeping in mind the need for fresh and innovative approaches as well as the ability to develop strategies to sudden unforeseen developments. Participants of Carbon Caliphs have to develop strategies for
1. A construction company
2. A local government
3. A Green tech startup
4. An NGO
The competition will be spread over 5 hours, where every 1 hour new stipulations will be given to the participants regarding developments in the external political, social, economic and geo-political environment. At the end of the 5 hours participants will have to showcase their strategies undertaken each hour and their solutions. The participants will be judged on the basis of their innovation, resource allocation, goals, realistic approach etc.

"Arjuna - Karma vs Kriya" - The Best Manager Event
Prepare for Glory! No Retreat! No Surrender! Orion 2010 presents “Arjuna – Karma vs. Kriya”. Arjuna is the ultimate warrior, full of dynamism and action. He was a man of ‘Karma and Kriya’, the one who faced all adversities with bravery. A peerless archer faced with many a dilemma, Arjuna proved his mettle during numerous trying times.
Managers today too, find themselves in catch-22 situations wherein in they must decide between the right and the wrong, faced with many challenging ethical, moral and organizational goal-related dilemmas. Management is what managers do. Their decisions influence an organization’s functioning in a multi-dimensional manner.
“Arjuna-Karma vs. Kriya”, the Best Manager competition at Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, aims at testing the skills, capacity and character of the competitors. A grueling 48-hour long event will not only stretch the participants to their limit but at times, compel them to go beyond them. The fight would be not just to win, but to survive the competition.... or give up! The situations faced by them will rarely be commonplace and unilateral and solving them would call for on a perfect mix of caliber, patience and out-of-the-box thinking. The motive here is not just to survive till the end but to adapt, out shine and outcast others.
The competition will be a combination of physical endurance tests, theoretical tests, business games, case study competitions, presentations, team-building exercises, on ground business exercises, interviews, debates, strategy games, some unexpected flips to make things interesting and keep the student managers on their toes. This event will act as an integration mechanism by bridging the segmented knowledge of various disciplines and the creative skills of the participants.
Jack Welch once said that – “If you pick the right people and give them the right opportunity to spread their wings, you almost don’t have to manage them”. This is your opportunity to show the world what you are made of, why are you different from the many others struggling to do the same task. Make the most of it.
Quoting the Bhagavad Gita - “One who has control over the mind is tranquil in heat and cold, in pleasure and pain, and in honor and dishonor; and is ever steadfast with the Supreme Self.” Are you ready to take the challenge to be the last man standing?
