The sponsorship teams have started hitting the companies with gusto.
We might get our first few breakthroughs in the next 2 days.
We have also started contacting media partners but that usually takes about a week before anything can be said.
The logos and posters for all individual events are being made at break neck pace and will be done in the next few days by Lenold, Mohit Dhanavat and the Ed team.
The Facebook, orkut and twitter accounts have been created and will be updated soon for the batch to log on!
The Ed team & Lenold is going to set up the website in the next 8 days.
The case studies for Carbon Credits and another big potential sponsor will be made and sent today.
We are trying to get Viacom to cover the event.
The Alumni blog will be set up by Bali by the 15th.
The academics team will setup the screening rounds for all events in the next 4 days.

This blog has been created for the faculty and student managers of SIMS to be updated with are the developments for Orion 2010. Information on this blog is present for only 2 purposes 1. To keep everyone informed about Orion 2010 2. To provide information to those who wish to help in Orion 2010. Please comment on posts so that we may also get the requisite feedback!
Orion 2010 - The Basics
Orion 2010 Concept Note
Orion 2010 is the Annual Management Festival of Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS). Orion 2010 is being conceptualized and executed completely by the Student Managers of SIMS. Our endeavor is to bring together students from various institutes around India to compete at Orion 2010 with “The SIMS way of life” as the theme of every event, competition and contest carried out on the 20th & 21st of February.
Orion 2010 - Philosophy
“The SIMS way of life” is what separates SIMS and Orion 2010 from the rest of the pack. “The SIMS way of life” is different since unlike the other B-schools in India, what sets apart students of SIMS, is our spirit, enterprising nature, creative and innovative streak, unshakable ethics and principles, a can-do attitude, mental thoughness and street smartness unparalleled by any other institute in India. Influenced heavily by our defense backgrounds and ethos, the student managers of SIMS, are conditioned to be not only physically and mentally tough, but to also enjoy and cherish even times of adversity. With an almost uncanny ability to think beyond the obvious, most students from SIMS find great joy and motivation in traversing the uncertainties and unknowns of life.
Orion 2010 – for the participants
Orion 2010 is being designed to take into account these amazing set of values connected to “The SIMS way of life” and all the events will be designed with this as the central theme. Hence any event or competition at Orion 2010 will be replete with twists, turns and have a very real, raw and in-your-face edge to them. All events are being designed to make participants and contestants feel the pressure, force them to think on their feet, get them out of their comfort zones and negate their concept of “the obvious” while still making them have loads of fun and take back lots of cherished memories. Winners of each event will be given prizes in cash and kind.
Orion 2010 – for the alumnus
Orion 2010 is our first step at reaching out to our Alumnus, many of whom feel a disconnect with the institute. We are looking at calling up to 30 to 40 alumnus of SIMS to judge various events and be a part of Orion 2010. A concerted effort is being made for them to help us with sponsorships for the festival. The theme “The SIMS way of life” fits in perfectly for this purpose since it creates a reason for the alumnus to feel ownership for Orion 2010.We will be sending constant updates through emails and a dedicated blog for our alumnus for Orion 2010.
Orion 2010 – for the batch
Orion 2010 is also our first step at repositioning and rebranding SIMS and its student managers. The Annual management festival is being designed and will be executed to project how student managers at SIMS are different from those of any other Institute. All activities of Orion 2010 will revolve only around the following goals
1. To initiate an “out-reach” program for the Alumnus so that they may develop a reconnect with the institute and subsequently the present batches.
2. To help rebrand and reposition SIMS and its student managers by aligning the image with all the qualities mentioned under “The SIMS way of life”.
3. To expose other institutes and colleges to SIMS and “The SIMS way of life”. This is not just our theme but also our USP and it has not been exploited by us to our advantage.
4. To build our reputation, in front of prospective recruiters, as an institute with great differential advantage among B-schools.
Orion 2010 – Details
Orion 2010 is being planned as a 2 day festival which will run almost 48 hours non-stop. All management events will be open for B-schools and cultural events will be open for B-schools as well as graduation colleges.

9. All competitions, contests etc will be called “Events”.

Orion 2010 - Tag Line – Survive. Adapt. Evolve. Thrive - are the stages which any organism goes through while entering a new and challenging environment. It symbolizes how the festival and its events incorporate the “The SIMS way of life” which is oriented towards successfully navigating challenging and taxing situations/ environments by a person’s wit and his/her ability to think on their feet.
